Shaili Gandhi, Class XII student, on HSC exams.Do board exam results play a determining role in deciding one's future? Yes, our future is highly dependent on our board exam results. More so, since our results will now carry a 60 per cent weightage in CET (Common Entrance Test). Also I feel that sometimes, the results are extremely unpredictable, which leads to undue stress.
There is sometimes no co-relation between how you performed in the test and the final result. Hence, one needs to constantly work hard and not get complacent with the marks secured in prelim exams. What is your opinion on the introduction of CET?Frankly, I don't know whether the introduction of CET will be beneficial to us or not. One can't solely depend on it, although it carries a weightage of 40 per cent. However, the negative marking is a daunting factor about CET and makes it more challenging. Hence, it is important to be well versed with your subject. And this would consequently reap rightful rewards for good students. Do you think preparing in the last few days prior to the exam helps?Last minute preparation can definitely be a blessing. For instance, one's performance can be improved to a certain extent by answering question papers from the previous year. This also helps in boosting the confidence of a student, and sharpening his/her analytical abilities. And this eventually is beneficial in framing strategies for the coming exams. What should be the ideal way to deal with examination stress?Students need to be positive and confident before they take the exams. Also one needs to maintain calmness of mind. There are instances when students have cracked up before examinations. Hence, it is necessary to be cool during examinations.
